UCLA’s Reaccreditation by WASC

February 4, 2010

UCLA Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost

To the UCLA Campus Community:

From February 24 – 26, UCLA will host a site visit in connection with its reaccreditation review by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).  Like all universities, UCLA is periodically reviewed, and we are in the last year of a comprehensive process that was initiated in 2006.

To learn more about our reaccreditation by WASC, please visit UCLA’s WASC Reaccreditation website www.wasc.ucla.edu

The visiting team has scheduled open meetings with students, staff and faculty to gather informal input from the campus community.  All meetings have been scheduled for Thursday, February 25th at the following times and locations.

Staff:  1:15 – 2:15 p.m. in 2121 Murphy Hall
Faculty:  1:15 – 2:15 p.m. in Faculty Center – Hacienda Room
Undergraduate Students:  4:15 – 5:30 p.m. in Faculty Center – Hacienda Room
Graduate Students:  4:15 – 5:30 p.m. in 2121 Murphy Hall

Understanding that not everyone who may wish to participate can attend these meetings, the WASC team is hosting a confidential e-mail account (address below) through which members of the campus community can communicate with the team regarding their experience at UCLA.  The comments go directly to the team chair and are not viewed by any representative of UCLA.

Students who wish to send a message to the team are encouraged to comment on issues of academic rigor and consistency, availability of student support services and other matters related to the quality of their educational experience at UCLA.

Institutional reports, on-campus interviews, open sessions and e-mail responses become part of the information collected and reviewed by the team.  Team members will not respond individually to any comments they receive, including those made through the confidential e-mail account.  The team will consider all input as it develops recommendations for the institution.  Only comments received before and during the site visit dates will be considered as part of the review process.

To communicate to the WASC team, please address your e-mail to:  wasc2ucla@yahoo.com

This e-mail address is accessible only to authorized WASC team members and only for this use.  It will terminate at the end of the visit.  The team will have private access to this site through a password provided by WASC staff.

We encourage you to participate in this review process.

Sincerely,

Scott L. Waugh
Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
