Administrative Update

March 19, 2015

UCLA Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost

To:  Vice Chancellors, Vice Provosts, Deans, Directors, Chief Administrative Officers

Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to share with you some administrative changes intended to increase efficiency, further strengthen resource management, and update our organizational structure to better align with the UC system and Office of the President.

Effective August 1, 2015, Corporate Financial Services and Campus Services Enterprises will report to Vice Chancellor and CFO Steve Olsen. Corporate Financial Services, headed by Associate Vice Chancellor and Controller Allison Baird-James includes: Accounts Payable; Business and Finance Services; General Accounting; Payroll Services; Procurement; Records Management & Information Practices; Tax Services; Travel Programs; and Treasury Services. Campus Services Enterprises, headed by Executive Director Brad Erickson, includes: Asset Management; Early Care & Education; Faculty Home Loan Programs; Insurance and Risk Management; Mail, Document and Distribution Services; and Real Estate.

The Administrative Vice Chancellor will continue to oversee all other units currently in the division: Campus Human Resources; Central Ticket Office; Environment, Health and Safety; Events and Transportation; Facilities Management; Financial and Administrative Services; Housing and Hospitality Services; Information Technology Services; and UCLA Police Department.

Last November I announced that Administrative Vice Chancellor Jack Powazek intended to retire. At the request of the Chancellor, he has agreed to extend his full-time service through July 31, 2015. We are very grateful to Jack for adjusting his plans. He, Steve, and their respective teams will work together to ensure a smooth organizational transition.

A search for Jack’s replacement has been launched, and we intend to proceed quickly with this important recruitment. Steve will serve as acting Administrative Vice Chancellor until Jack’s successor takes office.

Sincerely,

Scott L. Waugh
Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
