The UC Office of Ethics, Compliance and Audit (ECAS) has developed a General Compliance Briefing, and all campuses have been asked to implement this online course to ensure that employees are aware of the University’s standards related to Ethical Values and Conduct. The UCLA launch is scheduled to begin September 17, 2012, with a completion deadline of December 31, 2012. New employees are expected to complete the briefing within 90 days of hire. Chancellor Block and I strongly support this training that reminds us of the importance of ethical behavior in the conduct of our work.
- Description – This briefing will take approximately 30 minutes to complete and will be available online via the UC Learning Center.
- Audience – University faculty and staff are included in this briefing. (However, extramurally funded researchers for FY 2011-12 are not included because they were required to complete a separate conflict of interest course that was rolled out by UCOP on August 6, 2012; that course satisfies this general ethics requirement). Student employees in casual-restricted appointments are not included.
- Training Options – The UC Office of the President has given campuses flexibility in meeting this training requirement, and departments may conduct customized presentations for their employees. Please contact CHR Training Director Robert Gibson for the full in-person PowerPoint version of the Compliance Briefing or for the core set of slides that are mandatory if you wish to create customized scenarios.
During the week of September 17, 2012, online course assignment notifications will be issued by the Learning Management System (LMS) for employees with email addresses in the system, and you may contact LMS Administrator Jewel Powell in Campus Human Resources with any technical questions or concerns. Those conducting in-person sessions will also need to contact LMS Administrator Powell for a roster management tool to record and upload in-person course completions to confirm compliance.
