UC Innovative Learning Technology Initiative

To: Dear Deans, Department Chairs and Senate Faculty:
The UC Office of the President has released a Request for Proposals for the UC Innovative Learning Technology Initiative (ILTI). Funding will be awarded for: 1) developing or enhancing online courses; 2) developing or enhancing online components of hybrid courses; and 3) opening online course enrollment to UC students from multiple UC campuses during the academic year. Funding is restricted to undergraduate courses only. All Senate faculty are eligible to apply for ILTI support, and cross-campus partnerships are encouraged. Proposal submissions are due Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 9:00 p.m.
If you are interested in submitting a proposal, please read the RFP, FAQs, and associated materials from the Office of the President carefully, since proposals have course, department, institutional and UC requirements. In addition, UCLA has developed a website to provide further information and guidance about the application process.
The instructional technology unit that serves your school or division may be a helpful resource for proposal preparation. In addition, you should contact Director Jim Williamson or Director Michelle Lew at uclaonline@ucla.edu or 310-825-8692 (Jim) or 310-825-9140 (Michelle). Jim and Michelle will answer your questions about ILTI and provide useful data and information.
Please send a copy of any submitted proposals (including partnerships with other campuses) to Jim and Michelle at the email address above. This information will enable us to determine the total institutional resources that may be needed to support funded projects.
I want to thank the Academic Senate for their strong contributions to planning the systemwide development of ILTI and our campus response. Online and hybrid courses are an increasingly important tool for helping UCLA enhance quality in undergraduate education.
