Message to UCLA Community Regarding Today’s Events

June 1, 2016

UCLA Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost

To the Campus Community:

As you know, a tragic shooting occurred today around 10:00 a.m. in Engineering and our campus was in lockdown mode for much of the morning. In the wake of these tragic events, we want to make sure that students, staff and faculty receive support and solace from the UCLA community. If you would like to talk with someone about the events of the day, please contact CAPS (students) or the Staff and Faculty Counseling Center. The staff in these offices are available now to offer assistance.

Students can come together at the following designated healing spaces:

     Hedrick Lounge at 3:30 p.m.

De Neve Plaza Room at 3:30 p.m.

CAPS Large Conference Room at 5:00 p.m.

Sproul Lecture Room at 7:00 p.m.

All are welcome to join.

Chancellor Block will reach out to our community soon with his own message about today’s events. In our sorrow, let us come together with kindness and appreciation for one another.

Sincerely,

Scott L. Waugh
Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
