David Schaberg Appointed Senior Dean of the College

Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to announce that, following review and consultation, Chancellor Block and I have appointed Dean David Schaberg as senior dean of the UCLA College. He will serve a two-year term, beginning July 1, 2020.

The five deans of the College lead their respective divisions and share responsibility for College-wide issues and functions. As senior dean, David will be responsible for coordinating College-wide planning, budgeting, activities, and decisions related to staffing, policies, and development. He will also represent the College at meetings and events on campus, systemwide, and externally.

David became a member of the UCLA faculty in 1996 and has served as dean of the Division of Humanities since 2012. He has provided strong, thoughtful leadership to the division and the College to further advance our mission of education, research, and service. Chancellor Block and I look forward to working with David in this additional role for the benefit of the College and UCLA as a whole.
