A Special Note of Thanks

March 27, 2020

Dear Colleagues:

As UCLA and our community grapple with the global pandemic caused by COVID-19, we recognize that our health care workers are truly on the front lines of this battle. The challenges you face and the risks you take every day at this unprecedented time are likely far beyond what many of you ever imagined you might face in your careers, but we know that your dedication is unwavering. All of you have UCLA’s deepest gratitude and admiration.

You make a profound difference every day. Please remember that. Even as the number of COVID-19 cases grows, with no respite from the other cases you normally see, the work you are doing is a model of commitment to our community. ALL of you — nurses and doctors, residents and fellows, maintenance workers and support staff — play critical roles, whether you are saving lives, educating the public, comforting those worried for loved ones or helping ensure that our medical facilities remain open and ready to serve the community.

We also want to acknowledge all of our students pursuing careers in medicine, nursing, public health and dentistry – along with the faculty and staff who support them – at this uncertain and difficult time. Your courage and commitment to healing and caring for others gives us hope for the future.

All of you represent the best of this great institution. When we speak of service as a core part of our mission, your work and commitment are the epitome of that. You are a profound inspiration to our entire community and we are grateful. Please stay safe and strong and know you have the Bruin family’s support, thanks and admiration.

Sincerely,
