We write to share a bargaining update prepared by the UC Office of the President (PDF) that summarizes the latest proposals offered to UAW-represented Graduate Student Researchers (GSRs) and Academic Student Employees (ASEs).
The University of California has made what it believes are generous offers that are responsive to union and bargaining unit members’ priorities, including increases in wages, additional transportation resources, expanded paid leave and increased childcare cost reimbursements.
UC and UAW bargaining teams continue to meet in an attempt to arrive at tentative contract agreements for GSRs and ASEs. University leaders recognize the immense contributions that these academic workers make to UC’s mission, and we hope that an agreement can be reached with the units soon.
