Call for Recommendations: Interim Dean, Luskin School of Public Affairs
Dear Colleagues:
In light of Dean Segura’s decision to step down as dean of the Luskin School of Public Affairs, I write to share information about the Luskin School leadership transition and to solicit recommendations for the interim dean position.
Dean Segura’s last day in the role of dean will be December 31. We will appoint an interim dean to begin in the role on January 1. At this juncture, I anticipate that we will conduct a national search for a new dean of the school in the 2024-25 academic year. As such, the interim dean may serve for up to three years until the next dean is in place.
The EVCP Office welcomes Luskin School faculty and senior administrators’ input on potential candidates for interim dean. Please submit your recommendations for interim dean through this Google Form by next Friday, December 9.
The form includes the option for respondents to provide comments when submitting recommendations for potential candidates for interim dean. Responses to the form will remain confidential, be reviewed only by the EVCP Office, and be deleted when the process is complete.
Once we have your input, the EVCP Office will reach out to individuals who received a significant number of recommendations to gauge their interest in serving as interim dean. This is the standard process by which we appoint interim deans at UCLA.
Thank you for your participation and engagement in this process.
Sincerely,
Darnell Hunt
Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
