Given Dean García-Garibay’s plans to step down in June 2027, a search/advisory committee has been assembled and charged with identifying candidates for the next dean of the Division of Physical Sciences.
Tracy L. Johnson, dean of the Division of Life Sciences; Keith and Cecilia Terasaki Presidential Endowed Chair; and professor of molecular, cell and developmental biology, is chair of the committee. Other members are:
- Jonathan M. Aurnou – professor and chair, Department of Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences
- Robert N. Candler – professor of electrical and computer engineering, mechanical and aerospace engineering, and bioengineering; associate dean for research and physical resources, UCLA Samueli School of Engineering
- Rong Fu – professor of atmospheric and oceanic sciences; director, Joint Institute for Regional Earth System Science & Engineering
- Andrea M. Ghez – professor of physics & astronomy; Lauren B. Leichtman & Arthur E. Levine Chair in Astrophysics
- Mark S. Handcock – distinguished professor of statistics; Dunn Family Endowed Chair in Data Theory
- Marilyn N. Raphael – professor of geography and the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability
- Jose A. Rodriguez – professor of chemistry and biochemistry
- Marcus L. Roper – professor of mathematics and of computational medicine
