UCLA engaged Huron Consulting Group to perform a strategic, operational, and financial assessment of UCLA Extension in partnership with a steering committee that included Extension and campus leadership.
The Classroom Advisory Committee studied, reviewed, and recommended efforts on how to improve and increase existing classrooms and teaching laboratories, including both general assignment and non-general assignment/departmental instructional spaces.
The Committee on the Undergraduate Student Facilities Resource Plan was charged with developing recommendations to respond to the planned growth in undergraduate students over the next three to five years.

Carlos Moreno (Ret.), an independent review team conducted an assessment and presented recommendations to address issues regarding the university’s policies, procedures, and mechanisms for responding to incidents of perceived bias, discrimination, and intolerance involving faculty of color.
The Special Programs Task Force was charged with examining the future reporting structure for Summer Sessions, the International Education Office, UCDC, ROTC, and online education, and was asked to identify, if possible, any overriding principles of management or governance that can help determine how best to organize these efforts in the future.

The Task Force on Interdisciplinary Reporting Lines was asked to consider organizational challenges related to interdisciplinary units, including Centers for Interdisciplinary Instruction, Interdepartmental Degree Programs, and others. The Task Force endorsed and developed a proposal to create a new position of dean of interdisciplinary studies.
This report describes results of an assessment of the infrastructure for research administration at UCLA conducted by Huron Consulting Group. The assessment, requested by the EVCP in response to concerns expressed by faculty and administrators, identified a wide variety of opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce costs. Management and staff in the Office of Research Administration and campuswide implemented many of the recommendations in the report, leading to significant improvements in customer service, efficiency, cost savings, and productivity.
